![]() ![]() ![]() One of the most challenging parts is the anxiety ocular migraine can cause. While migraine aura and retinal migraine can be inconvenient (it’s hard to read when you’re seeing zigzag lines) and sometimes scary (pull over if you start experiencing symptoms while driving) they’re not usually serious on their own. What’s the treatment for ocular migraine? Whatever your ocular migraine symptoms, an eye doctor or other healthcare provider can do neurologic testing, imaging, and blood work to help pinpoint the root cause of your visual disturbances. Retinal migraine is rare, and it’s important to get an eye exam to confirm this diagnosis, since vision problems limited to just one eye-as well as complete vision loss, however fleeting-can also be a symptom of more serious conditions, like a mini-stroke. This condition, which can also involve partial or complete temporary blindness in one eye, also begins in the brain, possibly the result of blood flow to the retina suddenly being restricted due to narrowing of blood vessels, known as a retinal vasospasm. That said, if you’ve experienced some of these visual symptoms but they’ve only affected one of your eyes, retinal migraine is more likely at play. If you can still see your visual disturbances when you close your eyes, this is another sign that the cause originates in your brain, not your eyes. A few clues that your eye issues are tied to migraine aura: Your visual symptoms affect both of your eyes, they have a distinct start and finish, and they last between five minutes and an hour. Less commonly, aura can also involve other sensory symptoms like tingling, dizziness, and difficulty with speech. (FYI, a migraine without headache has its own name: acephalgic migraine). That said, it’s also possible to experience migraine aura on its own, without any head pain. Set off by a wave of brain activity-rather than caused by a problem within your eyes, as you might assume-aura typically involves visual disturbances that occur shortly before a throbbing migraine headache begins. The first is migraine aura, which affects about a third of people living with migraine, a chronic neurological condition that causes debilitating headaches along with many other symptoms. The term “ocular migraine” actually encompasses two separate clinical diagnoses. What is ocular migraine, exactly-and why does it spark such strange symptoms? These visual disturbances often start as a small shimmering spot that gradually expands outward and evolves within your field of vision. All refer to recurring attacks of short-lived visual symptoms, like scotoma (blind spots), scintillations (twinkling lights), and zigzag patterns. Ocular migraine is a general, catch-all term that’s often used interchangeably with ophthalmic migraine and visual migraine. However, if you frequently experience bouts of temporary vision problems-with or without other symptoms like a headache, dizziness, or nausea-ocular migraine could be the reason, especially if you have a family history of migraine. When spotty vision resolves fairly quickly, it’s easy to chalk it up to a bad week of sleep, your intense new hot-yoga regimen, or even just good old-fashioned aging. If you’ve ever seen shimmery spots or flashing lights, or worse, experienced blind spots, you know that random visual disturbances can be mega creepy as far as health symptoms go. ![]() ![]() Headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, Chaos is the largest global 3D visualization company with more than 700 employees and offices worldwide. ![]() ![]() STEREOGUM: I read something recently about how you work on your albums in order. It’s a love song, for sure, but it’s also about myself - my own growth. ![]() The more your actions might push towards the things you want happening. This song is more about how - at the risk of being corny - manifesting things the more you think about stuff. “Smoke Signals” is a love song about waking up to your reality, in a way, finding someone who shares the same interests as you. STEREOGUM: Right, I remember it being described as a spiritual cousin to “Smoke Signals.” When you say “sequel,” do you think it literally answers back to that song?īRIDGERS: I think it’s just another love song. I’m never going to release a fucking pop song that goes on the radio so I was like, “Let’s embrace it and release whatever we want first.” The instruments and the voices, we were very picky about those things. It has the least stuff on it but it’s still very produced. It just felt not too weird, not too different from the music I make, and I was proud of it - it stood out to me. PHOEBE BRIDGERS: I think it felt like a bridge from my last record to this record, and also my lead single to the first record was “Smoke Signals,” which is really similar in form and subject matter. Why did that one feel like the introduction to the album in both instances? STEREOGUM: Punisher starts with an instrumental track, and then “Garden Song” is the proper opener and the lead single. ![]() Now that you can hear Punisher for yourself, read along below to get the stories behind the album. She walked us through each song on Punisher, from inspiration to songwriting decisions to the host of guests that accompanied her. We recently caught up with Bridgers, who was calling from home in LA during quarantine. ![]() A few years after Stranger In The Alps, Bridgers’ life has changed a whole lot, and a lot of Punisher grapples with how you go about embracing that when the same old demons still follow you. But Bridgers’ albums are very much rooted in her own personal experience. A sense of drift, being young today and seeking to make sense of when you’ll actually feel present in your own life. There are ways you can hear broad, generational conditions in her writing. Across Punisher, her words are biting, hilarious, open-hearted, therapeutic, turning from unflinching honesty one moment to a sardonic punchline the next. While there is a subtle intricacy to Punisher musically - sparse or meditative compositions lightly embellished by orchestration, rare outliers like the catchy “Kyoto” or the climactic “I Know The End” broadening the album’s scope - Bridgers is more of a lyrics-first artist. It follows some of the same structures and approaches as Stranger In The Alps, but refines and expands and deepens them. The good news is that Punisher delivers in all the ways one might hope. That makes Punisher a funny proposition: It simultaneously doesn’t feel like a sophomore album at all given Bridgers’ output and how well we’ve come to know her songwriting, but also like a sophomore album that arrives with even more pressure and attention than the usual highly-anticipated second outing. In just a handful of years, she’s released several albums, already building up a diverse and complex body of work. The following year, she formed a trio with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker called boygenius then, last year, she formed a band with one of her heroes, Conor Oberst, and called it Better Oblivion Community Center. But in the ensuing years, Bridgers’ stature as a respected musician and generational voice has risen significantly, and quickly. With that album alone, she was already greeted as one of the most exciting, assured young songwriters newly on the scene. In 2017, Phoebe Bridgers released her debut Stranger In The Alps. ![]() ![]() ![]() If it is clipped into place be very careful while prying the old piece out. The first is attached to the car’s door skin itself, usually with a series of clips or screws. The horizontal pieces are fairly simple to get to and change out. There’s a total of four felts on each of the doors-two that run horizontal and two that are vertical. Once the nuts and bolts are removed you can pull the assembly up and out of the door…slightly rotating it to allow the bottom mount post to fit through the opening in the top of the door. There are four bolts/nuts holding them into the door on each side, again marked for future realignment. ![]() Removing the quarter window assemblies is an even easier task. It’s then just a simple matter of pushing the window up the track and guiding it out of the door from the top. There are two pins on each window and if you’re careful you can remove the spring-loaded clip just far enough to disengage the pin from the roller without allowing the entire roller assembly to come apart. ![]() Pulling the windows out of the Thunderbird meant removing two upper window stops on each door and then popping the window roller pins out of the spring-loaded rollers on the lower window tracks. Obviously this may not be an option if your car was just painted but with the help of a service manual for your specific vehicle and some patience you can still get everything back into alignment without these marks. As I’ve Mentioned in previous articles like to use a little bit of spray paint to mark the current position of any hardware I’ll be taking out to aid in realignment when it all goes back together. Now we’ll begin the process of removing the door glass and quarter window assemblies. Next, the watershield should be removed to allow access to the door. To begin the job you will need to remove your inner door panels both front and rear which obviously means taking off any cranks, knobs, locks, etc. The fact that this Thunderbird model has front vent windows makes the process a bit more complicated but with some patience and the right tools anyone can perform this restoration.Īfter removing the interior door panel, glass and vent window assembly, you can see how the outer felt clips into the door. Usually I will install all new felts after a fresh paint job, however this particular car won’t be seeing fresh paint for quite a while so repair was necessary now. Worn window felts are a common problem on our classics but a day’s worth of work, paired up with a few hundred dollars can go a long way in correcting the issues associated with their deterioration. After 50-plus years the originals had nothing more than the thin metal backing left and the added space was allowing the door glass to slap right up against the hard door shell, causing the broken window. ![]() The window had excessive play in and out of the center of the body, a direct result of deteriorated felts or “fuzzies” as they are often called. The owner was unsure of the actual cause of the damage but after a very short investigation the root problem became pretty apparent. That Can Lead to Loose-or Broken-Windows.Ī 1960 THUNDERBIRD came into my shop recently with a cracked driver side window in need of replacement. None of it ties into anything that you would call “relevant” but we do meet club owner Black Mask, played by the only person who comes out of this movie unscathed, Ewan McGregor. In the meantime we learn something about mobsters in Gotham and that someone’s going around shooting people. The plot then decides to take a bathroom break, forcing the audience and the characters to wait around for him. The film shamelessly attempts to be this year’s Deadpool, with Harley Quinn bee-bopping her way through an endless “listen to how clever I am” voice over narration, all of which could’ve been distilled down to a single sentence (“The Joker and I broke up.”). ![]() ![]() The plot follows Harley Quinn as she’s coming out of a bad breakup with the Joker. Why didn’t somebody come in and say something? “Maybe we should be inclusive and positive about all races and genders?” In the immortal words of Dana Carvey as George Bush: “Neht gunna dew it.”Įventually, a movie emerged out of this. You’re hating on the demographic that spends the most time in movie theaters. I guess I’m surprised because it’s such an odd business choice. I mean who wants to spend two hours being told that people who like you are bad? However, you have to then be accepting when the demographic you’re destroying has no interest in seeing your movie. If you want to portray an entire demographic in a negative light, you are well within your rights to do so. Look, anybody can make any movie they want. And then as Harley’s leaving, her voice over reveals that the man is Armenian. I thought, okay, I’m glad they’re at least portraying one white guy as cool. Put simply, if you are white and a man in the Harley Quinn universe, it ain’t going to end well.įinally, about 15 minutes into the film, we see that Harley has one Caucasian male friend – the cook who makes her daily greasy egg sandwich. The next two white men introduced try to rape Harley after a long night out. ![]() They don’t even have time to protest their death. The next four white men introduced are gunned down while eating dinner by the Huntress. The next white man is an a-hole who calls Harley a slut. The first white man to enter this story is a drooling bald-headed creepy pet salesman who says he accepts sex for payment. The movie was being written and prepped during that rabid six month stretch where everyone thought Twitter was real life and if you were Caucasian and had an xy chromosome, you were the devil incarnate. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way of this film’s development, they decided to embrace an anti-male slant. All I could think was, “Wow, Margot really cares about this character.” I saw an interview where Margot was asked what her favorite Harley Quinn tattoo was and she didn’t skip a beat, going into an extensive explanation about Harley’s first tattoo and how she got it and what it meant to her. Nobody was more determined to make Harley Quinn work than its star and producer, Margot Robbie. And all of them felt they had something to prove. It’s said that there was a woman heading up every major department in the film. A lot of people worked on this film and, unlike a lot of movies that come out of this town, these people really cared. I’m not here to dance on this movie’s grave. Sadly, the film finished with a measly 33 million bucks and is considered a full-blown box office disaster. That was down from the projections Warner Brothers had when making the movie, which were closer to the 75-85 million dollar range. Premise: Harley Quinn tries to figure life out after the Joker dumps her and gets caught up in a diamond theft that ignites Gotham’s newest baddie, Black Mask, to try and kill her.Ībout: Harley Quinn was projected to make 45-55 million dollars this weekend. ![]() ![]() Members of Sigma Pi Phi have provided leadership and service during the Great Depression, World War I, World War II, the Great Recession, and addressed social issues such as urban housing, and other economic, cultural, and political issues affecting people of African descent. As a result, corpses which had more equipment slots filled in life make optimum thralls since more armor pieces can be improved and enchanted to enhance the thrall's survivability. You may take the armor from the corpse in order to improve it, enchant it, and even rename it and then replace it onto the thrall, but it must be the very armor the thrall spawned in for them to re-equip it, not just a similar item with the same name. Dead Thralls will only equip the exact armor that they spawned in, so a corpse wearing a full set of elven or glass armor may be more durable in combat than a bandit in fur armor. They will also use staves, including those which summon or reanimate, and will often prefer them over melee weapons. Just like other followers, they will prefer weapons according to the quality of the material rather than the smithing level of improvement. Dead Thralls will equip any weapons and shields that you place on their corpse prior to reanimation (requires a loading screen or engaging an enemy to initiate equipping).Respawning NPCs and creatures cannot be made into permanent corpses this way. As long as the item is in their inventory, they will not disappear. Non-respawning named NPCs can be turned into permanent corpses by placing a permanent item onto them. This applies so long as the NPC was initially killed via conventional means and was not decapitated, dismembered, or turned to dust via skill perks or via lesser reanimation methods. This can be beneficial for players who want to collect and store the bodies of useful thralls for later use. Only a few NPC corpses will not de-spawn if you leave the cell and return later. Some unique NPCs are leveled so care should be taken when enthralling them, as they might cross the level cap. Many unique NPCs will retain their unique abilities when reanimated, such as Orchendor's teleportation or Ulfric Stormcloak's shouts. For this reason, you may select a thrall that has a level cap at or below level 40. Note that some leveled NPCs may become unusable once you reach level 40, as they keep leveling while risen as a thrall, which may make the Dead Thrall spell ineffective if the thrall happens to die in combat and you attempt to raise them again. However, there are some considerations which might guide your decision in choosing a minion since the thrall is permanent and can be raised again if killed during combat. Complete the Conjuration Ritual Spell quest to be able to purchase the Dead Thrall spell tome from Phinis Gestor.Īny humanoid level 40 or below may be reanimated to become a permanent minion. However, Dead Thrall minions are permanent and can be raised again as many times as needed if they die. Other reanimate spells are temporary, and after the duration of the spell, the undead minion disintegrates into a pile of ashes, forcing you to look elsewhere for a new minion.
